The office of Congresswoman Diana DeGette (CO-01) is seeking a hardworking, motivated Health Policy Director / Senior Legislative Assistant for Health to primarily assist with the Congresswoman’s robust health care portfolio, as well as her leadership of two high-profile caucuses: the Pro-choice Caucus and the Diabetes Caucus. The primary responsibilities for this position will be leading the Member’s existing health care initiatives, identifying new areas for legislative action, and coordinating with other Members and outside stakeholders. Additional duties will be assigned based on experience and office needs.
This is NOT an entry level position. Candidates should have at least three (3) years of experience developing and implementing legislative strategies in a Congressional office. Strong research, writing, and negotiation skills are essential. The ideal candidate is organized; detail-oriented and resilient in the face of a fast-paced and ever-changing environment; and has a keen sense of humor. The ideal candidate is also proactive and comfortable working with diverse staff, community members and constituents. An advanced degree in a health field is preferred, and close ties to western states are a plus.
