Legislative Intern (Paid)

The Assistant Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives, Congressman Ben Ray Luján (NM-03), is hiring for a paid full-time legislative intern for his Washington, D.C. office. Candidates should be motivated, flexible, and detail-oriented individuals with availability starting in February/March and can stay a minimum of 10 weeks. New Mexico ties are a plus but are not required.

Intern responsibilities include answering phone calls, greeting visitors, writing memos, leading tours of the Capitol and assisting experienced staff with projects in diverse issue areas. Interns will have the opportunity to work in a Democratic Leadership office and will have a large range of legislative projects and duties to work on. Candidates should be outgoing and possess strong oral and written communication skills, an ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment, and a good sense of humor. Prior experience using IQ is a plus but not required. Candidates with New Mexico ties are strongly encouraged to apply.
