Representative Robin Kelly seeks a Health Policy Fellow to aid the Congresswoman’s service as a Member of the Energy & Commerce Health Subcommittee, Chair of the Congressional Black Caucus Health Braintrust, and Co-Chair of the Congressional Caucus on Black Women and Girls. Responsibilities include assisting the Health Policy Advisor in preparing the Congresswoman for Committee hearings; developing and planning legislative initiatives; monitoring legislative developments in-portfolio within committees and on the House floor; planning and organizing Caucus and Braintrust briefings and other events; and other assigned tasks. - A demonstrated understanding of public health and health care policy (with focus on health equity and social determinants of health);
- Knowledge of the bill and amendment introduction process is a plus;
- Strong writing, interpersonal, self-motivation, and organizational skills are a must;
- Illinois or Midwestern ties are a plus.
Ideally, the fellow would be part of the team full-time and have a graduate degree and/or some professional experience. Highly talented graduate students, who are currently studying public health, public policy, public administration, law, medicine or another relevant field, and can commit to no less than 30 hours/week, will be considered.
