LEGISLATIVE ASSISTANT OPENING – REP. LAUREN UNDERWOOD

Representative Lauren Underwood (IL-14), Vice Chair of the Committee on Homeland Security, and member of the Committee on Veterans' Affairs and the Committee on Education and Labor, seeks a highly motivated, experienced Legislative Assistant. Responsibilities include managing and executing the Member’s legislative agenda within the Homeland Security Committee, as well as a legislative portfolio including but not limited to: energy and environment, gun violence prevention, immigration and judiciary, LGBTQ+ rights, and campaign finance.  

 

Responsibilities of this position include drafting and analyzing legislation, conducting research, drafting policy memos, meeting with constituents, and staffing hearings. The ideal candidate will be creative, ambitious, collaborative, self-starting, thorough, and curious.

 

This is not an entry-level position; salary is $60,000. Hill experience is required, and Illinois ties are preferred. Candidates from diverse backgrounds are strongly encouraged to apply.
