Communications Director

Rep. Lori Trahan (D-MA), a Member of the House Armed Services and Education and Labor Committees, seeks a proactive Communications Director to be based in her Washington, DC office. Responsibilities include responding to media inquiries; writing press releases, speeches, and interview preparation materials; pitching stories to Massachusetts and national media to advance the Congresswoman’s message; overseeing the office’s social media strategy and accounts, as well as an aggressive constituent email program; managing a DC-based Digital Press Assistant; and organizing press events in DC and Massachusetts. Qualified candidates possess strong writing skills, on-the-record experience, are self-motivated, have prior experience in political communications, and work well in a collaborative, fast-paced environment while meeting deadlines. This is not an entry-level position.  Periodic travel to Massachusetts is expected.
