Congresswoman Speier seeks a Legislative Assistant to handle military issues, foreign policy, and intelligence, including the Member’s chairwomanship of the House Armed Services Committee’s Military Personnel subcommittee. The candidate should have a strong interest in creating change in the military through research, oversight, and legislation. This is not an entry-level job—knowledge of national security issues and previous Hill experience are required. Familiarity with military personnel issues and the National Defense Authorization Act process strongly preferred.
Candidates should possess exceptional communications and writing skills, familiarity with the legislative process, and the ability to handle multiple tasks and meet tight deadlines. We are seeking a self-starter who can both support ongoing projects and propose new directions.
