The Office of Representative Mikie Sherrill (D-NJ-11) seeks a Legislative Assistant to manage an active domestic portfolio of issues related to: appropriations; transportation and infrastructure; budget; housing; labor; oversight and government reform; and financial services.  Responsibilities include crafting policy positions, legislation, and amendments; drafting talking points; working with relevant committee and Member office staff; and building relationships with constituent groups and advocacy organizations. This role will also be expected to contribute to COVID-19 related projects.

Applicants should have previous Capitol Hill experience.  Strong applicants will also have experience authoring legislation and/or amendments and be familiar with committee and floor procedures.  Applicants must be team-oriented self-starters with demonstrated writing, verbal, and organizational skills, as well as sharp political instincts

This is not an entry-level position; previous legislative experience in relevant issues is required.
