Legislative Assistant
posted Wed, 06/17/2020 - 12:52pmCongresswoman Lucille Roybal-Allard seeks a legislative assistant to join her appropriations team and handle a diverse portfolio with an emphasis on education and labor.
Responsibilities: developing legislative initiatives; preparation for appropriations hearings; drafting statements; tracking legislation; and representing the office in meetings in addition to the typical legislative duties.
Requirements: Prior Capitol Hill experience; excellent organizational, writing, and communications skills; a solid understanding of the legislative process; detail orientation; ability to multi-task and work under pressure; ability to meet attendance requirements including a varied and often unpredictable work schedule; ethics in all organizational activities; and a positive attitude. Spanish fluency preferred. Los Angeles or CA ties are a plus. People of color are encouraged to apply.

The writing samples should each be in narrative style and can be excerptsof a longer document. Samples should not be notes, bullets or part of a legal brief and should be no longer than two (2) pages in length.
