TITLE: Staff Assistant/Clerk – House Committee on Veterans’ Affairs (Majority)

SUMMARY: The Democratic staff of the House Committee on Veterans’ Affairs seeks a Staff Assistant/Clerk to support the committee with administrative tasks and assist the Chief Clerk. The Staff Assistant/Clerk will be responsible for administrative tasks in the office including managing the front office, mail processing, monitoring office deliveries, placing supply orders, answering phones, greeting visitors; and other assigned duties. The Staff Assistant/Clerk’s will also assist the Chief Clerk with preparation and execution of all full committee and subcommittee events, to include: assisting with invitations for committee events, archiving committee activity, and hearing/markup preparation.

 

Qualified candidates will be extremely organized, attentive to detail, hardworking, creative, and able to handle assigned tasks in a demanding, fast-paced office.  The position requires excellent oral and written communication skills, with a demonstrated ability to constructively work on a team. Ideal candidates will have a bachelor’s degree and congressional experience is a plus, but neither is required. One year of relevant volunteer or work experience may be substituted for each year of required education.
