Congresswoman Jennifer Wexton (VA-10) seeks a highly motivated, experienced, and detailed-oriented Communications Director for a fast-paced office.
Responsibilities include working with the Member and Chief of Staff on developing and implementing a communications strategy to advance the Member’s agenda; managing and working closely with the Press Secretary; coordinating with legislative and district staff to effectively communicate the Member’s priorities; drafting speeches, talking points, op-eds, and press releases; developing content for and managing implementation of digital media strategy; experience working across multiple digital and social media platforms; pitching media and fielding press inquiries; maintaining relationships with local press in VA-10; website management; overseeing daily clips; and staffing Member for press events.
The ideal candidate will possess exceptional writing and oral communication skills, the ability to multitask and prioritize under pressure, and enjoy working on an energetic team. They will also have video editing and digital communications experience, and experience executing communications plans.
This is not an entry level position. A minimum of three years of prior communications experience is required. Hill experience and Spanish language proficiency preferred. Virginia ties a plus.
