The Democratic staff of the House Committee on Veterans’ Affairs seeks a Professional Staff Member to support the Subcommittee on Economic Opportunity. Candidates will have experience in Congressional process, policy making, budgeting, and veteran programs. The position requires strong research, writing, and communications skills, with a demonstrated ability to constructively work on a team, generate ideas, and develop an oversight strategy. Ideal candidates will have a bachelor’s degree and congressional experience is a plus, but neither is required.
Exceptional candidates will have strong knowledge, experience, and skills with any of the following (though not necessarily all):
• VA education programs, including GI Bill implementation and programs;
• Oversight of institutions of higher learning, including State Approving Agencies;
• DoD Transition Assistance programs;
• DoL employment programs;
• VA homelessness, housing, and home loan programs, and
• Congressional Committee process.
Candidates will be evaluated on experience, skills, character and fitness, and how well you meet the qualifications and requirements above.
