TOPLINE: Thanks to President Biden’s open-door immigration policies, millions of migrants have unlawfully entered the United States – making every town in America a border town. Unless the Biden Administration reverses its pro-amnesty policies, the United States will continue to surrender to illegal immigrants, drug cartels, and human traffickers.   Biden’s Border Crisis Reaches A New Level   In May, U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) apprehended 239,416 migrants at the southern border.   This is the highest number of monthly apprehensions in CBP’s history.     Compared to May 2021, this is a 33 percent increase and a 930 percent increase when compared to May 2020.   In Fiscal Year 2022, over 1.5 million migrants were caught illegally entering our country.     Since Joe Biden took control of the White House, more than 2.9 million illegal immigrants have been apprehended at our southern border. That number represents more than the population of Chicago, Illinois – the third-largest city in America.   These migrants know that now is the time to travel to the United States and take advantage of Democrats’ pro-amnesty policies.   In his first 100 days in office, President Biden issued more than 90 executive actions on immigration, including stopping the construction of President Trump’s border wall, which cost taxpayers $72 million, and ending the Trump Administration’s successful “Remain in Mexico” policy, which required migrants seeking asylum to wait in Mexico until their court date in the United States.     In 2021, the Biden Administration reduced deportations by roughly 68 percent – the lowest level in 26 years.     To add insult to injury, morale among Border Patrol agents has been significantly damaged during Biden’s presidency.   These agents feel like President Biden and Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas are encouraging the massive surge of migrants at the southern border, making it difficult for them to catch criminals.     A startling number of illegal immigrants have been able to avoid apprehension from Border Patrol during the ongoing crisis at the U.S.-Mexico border.   CBP estimates that more than 400,000 “gotaways” were able to evade our overwhelmed Border Patrol agents during this fiscal year.     What’s even more concerning is that criminal organizations and terrorists are trying to infiltrate the United States through the southern border because they know it’s wide open.   In Fiscal Year 2022, CBP captured 50 individuals on the Terror Watchlist.     But that’s not all.   The Justice Department recently announced that a man affiliated with ISIS is under arrest for his participation in an alleged plot to assassinate former President George W. Bush.     Shihab Ahmed Shihab, according to the Department of Justice, exchanged money with other individuals in an attempt to illegally smuggle foreign nationals into the United States and specifically planned to help four Iraqi nationals enter the country across the southern border to help kill President Bush.   This is unacceptable.   President Biden’s refusal to secure the southern border is a national security risk.
