Unemployment Rate Hits Historic Low with Manufacturing Jobs on the Rise

For the second time this year, the unemployment rate has reached a historic low, dropping from 4.1% earlier this year to 3.9% this month. America has not maintained such low levels of unemployment since the 1960s—a clear sign that the Republican-passed Tax Cuts and Jobs Act is working for the economy and the American people. Helping to fuel these low unemployment numbers is increased hiring across all industries, including the manufacturing industry. • 24,000 new factory jobs were added this month and 73,000 were added over the whole first quarter
• 164,000 new jobs were created overall this month
