The Leader’s Floor Lookout: Week of April 24, 2023

Here’s what to watch for on the House Floor this week:

Getting Government Spending Under Control

Since President Biden’s been in office, our deficit has grown by $6 trillion, putting our national debt at a disastrous $31 trillion.

American families are suffering under record inflation, supply chain shortages, banking instability, and rising interest rates – meanwhile, the Biden Administration wants to raise their taxes and unleash the IRS on hardworking Americans.

President Biden has maxed out the credit card, and wants to do nothing to fix it. Instead of working towards a solution, Democrats want to ignore the issue and continue their rampant spending.

American families have to budget every day – why can’t our government? The path we’re on is unsustainable, and hardworking Americans are paying the price.

HR __, the Limit, Save, Grow Act of 2023, sponsored by Budget Committee Chairman Jodey Arrington, will limit federal spending, save taxpayer dollars, and grow the economy.

It’s time to correct course and work to lower our deficit, not ignore it. House Republicans are taking those steps, with or without the Biden Administration.

Prioritizing American Manufacturers Over Chinese Interests

Once again, Democrats’ radical ‘Green New Deal’ agenda is putting China above American manufacturers.

President Biden’s June 2022 Emergency Proclamation allows imports of Chinese solar products with no additional tariffs for two years, guaranteeing unfair import competition for American solar manufacturers.

Under this proclamation, Chinese companies can circumvent tariffs, and any tariffs imposed as punishment wouldn’t go into effect. They need to be held accountable for trade cheating that kills competition.

American manufacturers deserve to compete on a fair playing field.

Rep. Bill Posey’s legislation, H.J. Res. 39, would prevent the Commerce Department from implementing their final rule that puts the Biden Administration’s June 2022 Emergency Proclamation into action and protect fair competition.

House Republicans will always support American manufacturers over the interests of China.
