Scalise Congratulates Ranking Member Nunes on Next Chapter
Washington, DC,
December 6, 2021
Today, House Republican Whip Steve Scalise (R-La.) issued the following statement upon Ranking Member Devin Nunes’ announcement that he intends to retire from the U.S. House of Representatives:
“Since his election to the U.S. House of Representatives in 2002, Devin Nunes has served our nation and the people of California’s Central Valley with honor.“As Chairman and Ranking Member of the House Intelligence Committee, Devin played an instrumental role in exposing the sham Russian collusion hoax and the Obama Administration’s politically-motivated abuse of the FISA warrant process to undermine Donald Trump’s 2016 campaign and his presidency. Devin’s investigation revealed that the infamous Steele Dossier was funded by the Democrat National Committee and Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign.“As a senior member on the House Ways and Means Committee, Devin helped develop the historic Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, which overhauled our nation’s tax code for the first time in more than 30 years. This landmark legislation led to millions of new jobs and higher wages for low and middle-income workers, and made the United States more competitive worldwide.“For nearly two decades, Devin has stood as a voice for conservative principles and ideals, none being more important than the First Amendment. Devin has spoken out against Big Tech’s cancel-culture efforts to censor conservatives by picking and choosing who can and cannot have a voice on their platforms. I am grateful for Devin’s friendship and the opportunity to have served with him, and I know he will be successful in his future endeavors as a champion for free speech and conservative voices everywhere.”
