Committee Cliff Notes: Weekly Preview – Week of July 8, 2024

Here’s what to watch for from House Republican committees during the week:

Agriculture

On Wednesday, July 10, the Committee on Agriculture will hold a full committee hearing called "Examining the Consequences of EPA’s Actions on American Agriculture."

Appropriations

On Tuesday, July 9, the Committee on Appropriations will hold a full committee markup of the Fiscal Year 2025 Commerce, Justice, and Science, Interior and Environment, and Energy and Water Development Bills.
 
On Wednesday, July 10, the Committee on Appropriations will hold a full committee markup of the Fiscal Year 2025 Labor, Health and Human Services, and Education, Transportation, Housing and Urban Development, and Agriculture, Rural Development, and Food and Drug Administration Bills and Revised Subcommittee Allocations.

Education and the Workforce

On Tuesday, July 9, the Subcommittee on Health, Employment, Labor, and Pensions will hold a hearing called “Confronting Union Antisemitism: Protecting Workers from Big Labor Abuses.”
 
Energy and Commerce

On Tuesday, July 9, the Subcommittee on Communications and Technology will hold a hearing called "The Fiscal Year 2025 Federal Communications Commission Agency Budget."

On Tuesday, July 9, the Subcommittee on Innovation, Data, and Commerce will hold a hearing called "The Fiscal Year 2025 Federal Trade Commission Budget"
 
Financial Services

On Tuesday, July 9, the Financial Services Committee will hold a full committee hearing called "The Annual Testimony of the Secretary of the Treasury on the State of the International Financial System."

On Wednesday, July 10, the Financial Services Committee will hold a full committee hearing called "The Federal Reserve’s Semi-Annual Monetary Policy Report."

On Friday, July 12, the Subcommittee on Financial Institutions and Monetary Policy will hold a field hearing in Lexington, Kentucky, called "Financial Institution-Fintech Partnerships: Leveraging Third-Party Relationships to Increase Access to Financial Services."
 
Foreign Affairs

On Tuesday, July 9, the Subcommittee on Oversight & Accountability will hold a hearing called "Management Successes and Failures: Assessing the U.S. Agency for Global Media."

On Tuesday, July 9, the Subcommittee on Global Health, Global Human Rights and International Organizations will hold a hearing called "Examining the 2024 Annual Trafficking in Persons Report: Progress over Politics."

On Wednesday, July 10, the Committee on Foreign Affairs will hold a full committee markup on the following measures:

On Tuesday, July 9, the Subcommittee on Transportation and Maritime Security will hold a hearing entitled “Protecting the Homeland – Examining TSA’s Relationships with U.S. Adversaries.”

On Tuesday, July 9, the Subcommittee on Border Security and Enforcement and the Subcommittee on Oversight, Investigations, and Accountability will hold a joint hearing entitled, “Smart Investments: Technology’s Role in a Multi-Layered Border Security Strategy.”

House Administration
 
On Wednesday, July 10, the Committee on House Administration will hold a full committee hearing titled, “Oversight of the Library of Congress.”
