Biden's America: Another Month of Record Inflation
Washington, DC,
August 11, 2021
TOPLINE: Inflation is at its highest level in 13 years. The American people are paying more for everyday goods and services, wiping out all of their paycheck increases they gained during the Trump Administration. The last thing President Biden and Congressional Democrats should be doing is an attempt to ram through the most significant tax increase and spending plan in history on a simple party-line vote. Democrats’ $3.5 trillion tax-and-spending spree will fuel inflation, send jobs overseas, and bankrupt future generations of Americans.
Democrats’ Careless Spending is Supercharging Inflation
The Department of Labor’s July Consumer Price Index shows that prices rose 5.4 percent over the last year — the same as June Consumer Price Index — which was the fastest rate in the last 13 years.
This means that cost of living in the United States is at its highest level since the 2008 financial crisis.
Compared to last year:
Compensation is now lower than it was in December 2019, when adjusted for inflation, according to an analysis by Jason Furman, a Harvard professor. He chaired the Council of Economic Advisers in the Obama Administration.
If inflation is crushing middle class families and workers, why would President Biden and Congressional Democrats advocate for an incredibly partisan $3.5 trillion reconciliation bill that will only make inflation worse?
Last week, Whip Scalise and Congresswoman Michelle Steel penned an op-ed urging Democrats to abandon their reckless $3.5 trillion socialist wish list because it will raise taxes on hard-working American families and kill jobs.
Gasoline, car, and food prices will continue to skyrocket unless President Biden reverses his out-of-control spending.
BOTTOM LINE: Inflation is soaring in Joe Biden’s America. Prices are rising faster than paychecks, and the impact disproportionately hurts families with lower incomes. Workers and small businesses will continue to suffer unless Democrats change their ways and stop spending trillions of dollars of taxpayer money.
