Committee Cliff Notes: Weekly Preview – Week of July 22, 2024

Here’s what to watch for from House Republican committees during the week:

Agriculture

On Tuesday, July 23, the Committee on Agriculture will hold a full committee hearing called "Financial Conditions in Farm Country."

On Thursday, July 25, the Subcommittee on Commodity Markets, Digital Assets, and Rural Development will hold a hearing called "Reauthorizing the CFTC: Stakeholder Perspectives."

Armed Services

On Tuesday, July 23, the Subcommittee on Readiness and the Subcommittee on Strategic Forces will hold a joint hearing called “Mobility Aircraft Relevance and Survivability in a Contested Environment.”
 
Education and the Workforce

On Tuesday, July 23, the Subcommittee on Higher Education and Workforce Development and the Committee on Natural Resources’ Subcommittee on Oversight and Investigations will hold a hearing called “Investigating how the Biden Administration Ignored Cries for Help from Students at Haskell Indian Nations University.”

On Wednesday, July 24, the Subcommittee on Workforce Protections will hold a hearing called “Safeguarding Workers and Employers from OSHA Overreach and Skewed Priorities.”
 
Energy and Commerce

On Tuesday, July 23, the Subcommittee on Energy, Climate, and Grid Security will hold a hearing called "The Fiscal Year 2025 Nuclear Regulatory Commission Budget."

On Tuesday, July 23, the Subcommittee on Health will hold a hearing called "Are CDC's Priorities Restoring Public Trust and Improving the Health of the American People?"

On Tuesday, July 23, the Subcommittee on Innovation, Data, and Commerce will hold a hearing called "The Fiscal Year 2025 Consumer Product Safety Commission Budget."

On Wednesday, July 24, the Subcommittee on Energy, Climate, and Grid Security will hold a hearing called "The Fiscal Year 2025 Federal Energy Regulatory Commission Budget."
 
Financial Services

On Tuesday, July 23, the Financial Services Committee will hold a full committee hearing called "AI Innovation Explored: Insights into AI Applications in Financial Services and Housing."

On Wednesday, July 24, the Subcommittee on Housing and Insurance will hold a hearing called "Housing Solutions: Cutting Through Government Red Tape."
 
Foreign Affairs

On Tuesday, July 23, the Subcommittee on the Middle East, North Africa, and Central Asia and the Subcommittee on the Indo-Pacific will hold a joint hearing called "Fiscal Year 2025 Budget Request for South and Central Asian Affairs."

On Tuesday, July 23, the Subcommittee on Europe will hold a hearing called "A Look at U.S. Policy in Georgia and Moldova Ahead of Their 2024 Elections."

On Wednesday, July 24, the Subcommittee on Western Hemisphere will hold a hearing called "Latin America Forgotten: A Look at President Biden’s FY 2025 Budget Priorities."

On Tuesday, July 23, the Committee on Homeland Security will hold a full committee hearing entitled, “Examining the Assassination Attempt of July 13.”

On Wednesday, July 24, the Committee on Homeland Security will hold a full committee hearing entitled, “From Drug Interdictions in the Caribbean to National Security Patrols in the Arctic: Examining U.S. Coast Guard’s Role in Securing the Homeland.”

On Tuesday, July 23, the Subcommittee on Crime and Federal Government Surveillance will hold a hearing called “Oversight of the Federal Bureau of Prisons.”
