The Leader’s Floor Lookout: Thursday, July 25, 2024

Here’s what to watch for on the House Floor today:
Condemning Border Czar Harris’ Refusal to Secure the Border
The southern border hasn’t been secure since President Biden and Border Czar Vice President Harris took office, posing a significant threat to our national security. Under their leadership, more than 7.9 million illegal immigrants have entered our country, which is greater than the population of 36 states. And these migrants aren’t just coming from South America – individuals from over 160 countries, including countries on the State Sponsors of Terrorism list, have been apprehended crossing our border illegally. As a result, more than 372 people on the terrorist watchlist have been caught attempting to illegally enter the U.S. under President Biden and Vice President Harris – an over 2,000 percent increase over when President Trump was in office from 2017 to 2020. Who knows how many have entered the United States undetected? Additionally, these disastrous policies have enabled drug traffickers to flood our streets with fentanyl. In 2023, the DEA seized over 386 million deadly doses of fentanyl – the most fentanyl seized by DEA in a single year and enough to kill every American. Since President Biden appointed Vice President Harris in charge of the border crisis in March of 2021, she has visited the border only one time and failed to take any action to address the massive influx of migrants or its devastating consequences on hardworking Americans. She even proclaimed that the border was secure, when every American knew it wasn’t. Over a year ago, House Republicans passed a bill to stop the flow of migrants and keep our communities safe: H.R. 2, the Secure the Border Act. But the Democrat-led Senate and the Biden Harris Administration refuse to take up any meaningful border legislation, instead trying to shift blame and mislead the American people. Vice President Harris owns this Administration’s disastrous record, especially the crisis at our border which was her main responsibility as vice president. This Administration must be held accountable for their egregious disregard of and efforts to subvert our border laws, and for the consequences their actions have had on American families. H. Res. 1371, introduced by Rep. Elise Stefanik, condemns the Biden Administration and Border Czar Kamala Harris for their failure to secure the U.S. southern border, resulting in the worst border crisis in American history. House Republicans won’t stop fighting to undo the damage done by the Biden Administration and Border Czar Harris and secure our border, stop the flow of fentanyl, crack down on human trafficking, and restore our national security. |
