  Oversight Democrats Turn Down Republican Efforts to Investigate the Origins of COVID-19   Last month, House Republican Whip and Select Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Crisis Ranking Member Steve Scalise and House Committee on Oversight and Reform Ranking Member James Comer called on their Democrat counterparts — Select Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Crisis Chairman James Clyburn and Committee on Oversight and Reform Chairwoman Carolyn Maloney — to investigate COVID-19’s origin and hold Communist China accountable.     After thousands of Dr. Anthony Fauci’s emails were released via the Freedom of Information Act containing new evidence regarding the origins of COVID-19, including the possibility it leaked from the Wuhan Institute of Virology, Ranking Members Scalise and Comer renewed their request for Chairman Clyburn and Chairwoman Maloney to take action.     Last Friday, Chairman Clyburn and Chairwoman Maloney rebuked Whip Scalise and Ranking Member Comer’s calls to working together and uncover the truth.   Chairman Clyburn and Chairwoman Maloney falsely claimed that Whip Scalise and Ranking Member Comer’s efforts to have Dr. Fauci testify before Congress in order to provide information related to the origins of the novel coronavirus as an effort “to shift accountability from President Trump and his top political advisers to Dr. Anthony Fauci."   Whip Scalise and Ranking Member Comer blasted Chairman Clyburn and Chairwoman Maloney for officially refusing to investigate the origins of COVID-19.     Chairman Clyburn and Chairwoman Maloney have it backwards.   House Democrats are trying to use their positions on their respective committees to ignore the truth and attack President Trump while being indifferent about the Chinese Communist Party’s role in the pandemic.   Why do Democrats continue to shield the Chinese Communist Party from any accountability for unleashing COVID-19 on the world?   The United States cannot rely upon the World Health Organization for a thorough investigation on the origins of the COVID-19 pandemic because of the Chinese Communist Party’s ability to influence the agency’s review process over the past year.     The American people have a right to know about the origins of COVID-19.
