Today, House Majority Leader Steve Scalise (R-La.) released the following statement on the announcement by the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM) to rescind its Notice to Lessees and Operators (NTL) regarding the Rice’s Whale in the Gulf of America:

“I applaud the Trump Administration for rescinding the Biden-era Rice’s Whale policy. BOEM made the right call by rescinding this misguided policy that hinders energy exploration and production, and I applaud President Trump for his swift action to unleash American energy. This Biden policy was designed to appease radical progressive special interests and shut down American energy in Louisiana and across the nation while putting nearly twenty percent of our nation’s domestically-produced oil and natural gas at risk. It was Biden’s failed energy policies that led to higher prices at the gas pump and grocery store for American families and small businesses, and with President Trump, we are putting America back on a path to affordable prices.
